Howard A. Dosch, 89, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 surrounded by family. Born to Francis J. and Hilaria (Mehling) on May 14, 1932 in Zanesville, Ohio, he graduated from Saint Nicholas High School, moving to South Bend, Indiana in 1956 where he worked at the South Bend Tribune in the Composing Room for 35 years.

Howard was a long-time member of Corpus Christi Church in South Bend, Indiana. He loved time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren all of whom have their own happy memories, many of which include camping, fishing, playing cards, sharing treats, and telling jokes with Dad/Grandpa. And in the later years nearly every visit featured a fun and lively group effort to complete a crossword puzzle or two. Always there was a lot of laughter when we spent time with him.

Howard married Patricia Morin on August 4, 1951 at St. Nicholas Church in Zanesville, Ohio. He was a loving husband and a loving father to their four children: two daughters – Dianna (Ken) Dekker of Dowagiac, Michigan, Lisa (Tom) Slott of South Bend, and two sons – Mark Dosch and Peter (Maria) Dosch, both of South Bend. He also had eleven grandchildren who thought him pretty terrific: Katie (Jon) Denbrock, Sara (Beat) Guggisberg, Josh (Karyn) Dekker; Christopher (Katie) Slott, John (Theresa) Slott, Carolyn (Pete) Wamsley, Dan Slott, Colleen (Matt Brach) Dosch, Maggie, Alexandra and Rebecca Dosch. And there were fourteen great grandchildren – Samuel, James, Marian, Adelaide, Thomas, Rachel, Elizabeth, Miriam, Teddy, Zoe, Maura, Dean, Myles and Cora.

In addition to his wife Pat, his children and grandchildren, Howard is also survived by a brother George, and sisters Martha Carpenter and Monica (Joe) Tumeo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Paul, Harry, Ralph, Sr. Miriam, John and Mark.
