Horace LaVan Havens a lifelong resident of Semmes, Al died Saturday, February 28, 2015.
After serving in the Navy during World War II, Mr. Havens worked at Semmes Nursery, then at Alabama Ship Yard until his retirement. Though he worked other jobs his passion was dairy farming and raising cattle.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life Roberta Malone Havens to whom he was married for 68 years. Parents: Gaines and Agnes Maddox Havens, Brothers: Edward, Pete, RB and Charles Havens, Sisters: Lillie Havens Mullis and Mattie Havens Schroeder.
He is survived by his children: James (Patsy) Havens, Linda Ryals, Steve (Barbara) Havens, William Havens and Vanessa (Steve) Chappell.
Grandchildren: Darrell (Kim) Havens, Theresa Ryals, Jason (Andie) Havens, Shannon Nafaa, Scott (Sarah) Havens, Jennifer (Adam) Wilborn, Ricky Havens, Brandon Chappell, and Mikeala Chappell.
Great Grand Children: Dustin Havens, Miranda and Jamie Havens, Ella and Lathan Wilborn and Emily and Joey Havens and one Great Great Grand Child, Noah Havens, numerous nieces and nephews.The family would like to thank Mr. Henry Harris, a long time friend of Mr. Havens for the tireless friendship and support that he provided.
The family would like to thank Springhill Hospice for the care and support they provided, in particular Elise and Yolanda.
