On March 14, 2017, Hope R. Meyer, 96, of Glen Burnie, passed away at her home. Hope was born in Rising Sun, MD, and attended the University of Maryland at College Park and taught school in Cecil and Anne Arundel counties. She was an active member of the Glen Burnie United Methodist Church in various activities. Those activities include, Sunday School Teacher, 3 time Elected Secretary for the United Methodist Women’s Group, Craft Coordinator, Founder of the G.B.U.M.C. Young at Heart Group, Bible School Aide, Former Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee, and Methodist Women “Circle” Group. She was also a member of the Anne Arundel County Retired Teachers Association, former volunteer for the Anne Arundel Co. Dept. of Aging, former member of the Anne Arundel Teachers Group, former coordinator for the Glen Burnie Improvement Association’s “Garden Club,” former member of the Friendly Thyme Herb Club, and was a life member of the Baltimore Washington Medical Center Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, making crafts, and reading.
Hope was predeceased by her husband, Robert C. Meyer. She is survived by her loving daughters, Nancy H. Volcjak and husband William Volcjak of Crownsville, MD, and Christine R. Meyer and husband James; her cherished granddaughter, Jeannine Schiller and husband Jon; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Logan and Elena. She is also survived by her dear friends, Sylvia Lindauer, HiRho Park, J.W. Park, and Felicia Park.
