We had a friend, he went away. The story ends, as softly as it began. We loved our friend.

After a courageous fight, Homer Johnson passed away peacefully at River Oaks on Saturday July 8, 2018. The love and compassion shown by the staff was truly remarkable.

The youngest of three children, Homer was born in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late Homer and Carrie Ellis Johnson on July 31, 1943; two sisters, Geraldine Upshaw and Rita Mae Price preceded him in death.

He is survived by five children, Kim Johnson, Tiara Russel, Keo, Michael and Teko; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Homer retired from Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA., where he had worked for 30 years as a medical technician in the trauma unit.

Over the years he was devoted Steelers fan. He remained active and volunteered at senior centers and his Baptist church.

Seven years ago, Homer moved to Clarksburg as an extended member of the Jett family. He acted as care giver to the late Wilma Ruth Jett and Dot Jett Mills.

In keeping with his wishes, Homer was cremated.
