Hobert Dobson, age 84, passed away at his home in Monticello, Indiana on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. He resided most of his life in the Rensselaer area, moving to Monticello in 2015. Hobert was born in Vest, Kentucky on July 7, 1932, the son of Coet and Hattie (Messer) Dobson.
He was raised in Vest and attended school there. On June 14, 1957, in Rensselaer, Indiana, Hobert married Adna Raleigh who survives. Hobert and Adna wintered in the Tampa, Florida area for a number of years. Hobert was a member of the Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. He retired after 35 years as a material handler for Ford Motor Company, Chicago Heights, Illinois. Hobert loved fishing, watching western’s on television and enjoyed hunting with his son.
He always had a large vegetable garden and was known to share produce from it with family and friends. Hobert had a great love for his family and will be missed dearly by his wife Adna, son Gary (wife Amy) Dobson of Monticello, sister Claudine Childers of Francesville, Indiana, brother William A. (wife Diane) Dobson of Bradenton, Florida and sister Gladys (husband Larry) Stonebreaker of Brookston, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Erma Williams and Imogene Richie Bell and two brothers, John C. Dobson and Jim Dobson.
