Today, we celebrate the life of Hirmer Thomas Amerson. She was born on July 30, 1924 in Creston, Louisiana, the eldest of five children from the union of Houston and Eliza Thomas. She was educated in the Creston Public School System. Early in life, she found Christ and was baptized at St.

On February 15, 1946, she married the love of her life, Phillip Amerson. Shortly afterwards, Hirmer and Phillip moved to San Diego, California, making it their permanent residence. Their marriage was blessed with four sons and two daughters.

Hirmer was a very loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. She was an excellent cook and was known for her scrumptious gumbo, chili beans and greens. Fridays were always special; that’s when she would prepared her famous fried catfish. Hirmer’s loving and caring nature will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of forty-two years Phillip Amerson; one son, Phillip Amerson, Jr.; one grandson, Maurice White; both of her parents; one brother, Theodore R. Thomas and her sister, Eva Baker.

On Sunday, November 24, 2013, Sister Hirmer Amerson was called from labor to receive her eternal reward. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Ronald Amerson, Ralph Amerson, Sr. (Karen), Robert Amerson, Phyllis Hooker (Stephen) and Patricia Nealy (Rodney) all of San Diego, California; two sisters, Essie May Reliford of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Ruth Smith of Hemet, California; nine grandchildren, Tianne Henderson (Phillip), Ralph Amerson, Jr. (Jessica), Stephen Hooker, Jr., Andrea Amerson, Derrick White, Jeannice Turner, Ronald Amerson, Jr. (Peggy), Phillip Amerson (Vanessa) and Sean Nealy; eleven great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends who will mourn her passing, yet celebrate her life.
