Hilda E. Widener McLary, 92, Anderson, died May 24, 2009 at Bethany Pointe Health Campus-Anderson after an extended illness. She was born February 16, 1917 in Madison County.
Hilda lived in Anderson all her life and worked in food services including Pendleton and Daleville school cafeterias from 1952-1986.
She volunteered as a Pink Lady at St. John’s Hospital and was a Eastern Star member for over 50 years. Hilda was also a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband who she married on December 24, 1936, Fred McLary; children, Patty husband Richard Dyer of Florida, Sharon Wood of Anderson, Terry wife, Debbie McLary of Pendleton and Emily husband, Wendell Allen; brother, Vernie Joan Widener, Jr.; seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Elvie Bousman and Vernie Widener, Sr., one brother and two sisters.
