It is with deep sadness the Yuma Police Department notifies the community on the passing of Master Police Officer Hilbert Celaya. Officer Celaya, 48 years old, passed away peacefully at his Yuma home on March 26th, 2012 after a brief battle with cancer.
Officer Celaya was an 18 year veteran of the Yuma Police Department. During his tenure, he served as a Field Training Officer, Detective, Honor Guard, and Special Enforcement Team Member.
Officer Celaya is survived by his 10 year old son, 8 year old daughter, two step-daughters 15 and 20 years old, and an infant granddaughter.
The Celaya family and Yuma Police Department sincerely appreciates the outpouring support from family, friends, co-workers and others. We would ask that you continue to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
