Hezekiah Chapman Jr., was born in Decatur, AL on April 7, 1932 to Hezekiah Chapman Sr., and Sarah Reynolds. He had four brothers; Charlie, Leon, Oscar and Sam Chapman and one sister, Rose that preceded him in death.
He was baptized January 3, 1968 under the leadership of Bishop Andrew Cooper Strong, at the Pentecostal House of Prayer, and later became a member of the Apostolic Church of God under the leadership of Bishop Herman Finley. He was the head Deacon of the church and a teacher of God’s Word. He was a man of his word and believed in God.
He will be truly missed by family, church friends and all the lives he touched as he touched the hand of God.
He was a kind and loving father to many foster children of Decatur and loved them all as if they were his.
He was married to Dorothy Cooper Chapman on March 4, 1972. They were the parents of eleven children, Edward Stegall (Melissa), Perry Chapman, Elaine Townsend (Michael), Sharon Chapman, Juliette Chapman, Esther Stevens (Curtis), Mario Chapman, Jerome Chapman, Robert Chapman, Sam Chapman and Larry Chapman who preceded him in death. He has forty-two grandchildren, two preceded him in death, five great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy of New York and Mary Lee of Decatur.
