Hessie M. Tinch Brown, 77, Greenfield, died February 9, 2008 at Hancock County Hospital, Greenfield after an extended illness. She was born June 11, 1930 in Tennesee, and resided in Greenfield, IN. She lived in this area most of her life. She was a homemaker.

Hessie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rushville. She enjoyed quilting, fishing and singing. She and her husband had a Southern Gospel group called The Brown Family. They traveled to various churches throughout Indiana and Tennesee spreading God’s Word. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Virgle Brown of Greenfield.

Five children: Betty Louise England of TN, R.B. Brown and wife, Dava of Texas, Otis Brown and wife, Chris of Anderson, Darlene Wall and husband, Jim of Whiteland and Tim Brown and wife, Cheryl of Mt. Juliet, TN. Also survining are two sisters: Eula Ledford and Shirley Carol June Cantrell, 21 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her daughter: Claire Marie Cantrell Raver. Parents: Shirley Greene and Zora Betty Walker Tinch.
