Herschel Leonard Florence, 73, of DeMotte, Indiana passed away October 26, 2016 in Crown Point.
Herschel was born in Gary, Indiana on March 10, 1943 the son of Robert and Margaret (Childress) Florence. He graduated from Calumet High School, Class of 1963 and continued his education at Greer Technical College in Chicago, Illinois. Herschel was employed as a Boilermaker for E.J.E. Railroad of Joliet, Illinois and retired in 2008. He married the love of his life, Judith (Ferrell) on October 30, 1965 in Gary, Indiana. Together they had 2 children. Herschel was affiliated with the Faith Pentecostal Church of God in Wheatfield, a member of the Cal Ridge Moose Lodge #1258 Schererville, Indiana, and an avid fisherman.
Herschel is survived by his loving wife: Judith Florence; children: Gary (Lynn) Florence of Roselawn; Michelle Bishop of DeMotte; grandchildren: Megan Milbourn, Mitchell Florence, and Baylee Florence; great grandchildren: Lilyanna Milbourn and Braeden Milbourn; and 2 half brothers.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
