Herman Stanley DeWitt, 78, of Anderson, passed away on March 12, 2020. He was born on December 15, 1941 in Anderson, where he resided most of his life. Stan graduated from Anderson High School in 1960. He served his country in the United States Air Force in the Crash Rescue Unit. Stan had a hobby with woodworking and was the type of person who would help any one with a project around their home.

He worked as a carpenter for Mel Sylvester Construction for all of his life. He also was an Anderson Auxiliary Police Officer throughout his working career and served at an array of different locations and events that he was very proud of including the Anderson Speedway, Anderson High School Football and Basketball Games, and parades for the city. Stan also enjoyed drinking coffee and eating donuts at Hester’s Auto Service every morning, but most importantly he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children and step-children, Shane (Andrea) DeWitt, Kevin DeWitt, Joey (Jamie) DeWitt, Christy (Mitch) Main, and Jerry (Jana) Clevenger; grandchildren, Joey, Zak, Jayda, Andrew and Amber DeWitt; and step-grandchildren, Wes and Britni Riley, Valerie Walker, and Autumn and Emily Clevenger. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert DeWitt, Sr.; mother, Floma Haas; and his siblings, Jerry, Herbert “Bud”, Donald, and Marilyn.
