Herbert Wood Davis, Sr., 70, of 2251 Mountain Valley Road, Axton, VA died Sunday, February 21, 2010 at his home. He was born on June 3, 1939 in Henry County, VA to the late Joe Henry Davis and Lizzie Brown Davis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Donnie L. Davis; a brother, Andrew L. Brown and a grandson, James David Kates. Mr. Davis worked for Tultex Corp. for fiftheen years and then worked sixty-six years for Robertson Farm Supply. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, Axton, VA. Surviving are his wife, Gloria Bray Davis of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn D. Robertson and Eddie Robertson, Susan D. Franklin and Lester Franklin and Sandra D. Kates all of Axton, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Buck Davis and Lesley Davis of Martinsville, VA; two sisters, Betty Lou Maxey of Axton, VA and Masie Miller of Beltsville, MD; three brothers, Joseph Wayne Davis, D. Moses Robertson, III and Raleigh Robertson all of Axton, VA; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
