Mr. Herbert Lee Johnson (“ML/Hot Rod”) Born in Bowman, SC on March 10, 1950, was son of the late Emmanuel D. Johnson (Father), Eunice Robinson Johnson (Mother), and Essie Simmons Johnson (Stepmother). He attended the public schools of Orangeburg County, SC.

Mr. Johnson was a dedicated worker at Palmetto Sash and Door for over 20 years. Herbert’s love of carpentry lead him to become a successful entrepreneur in the industry. He owned and managed his own custom cabinet and woodworking business for many years. His expertise in woodwork opened doors for business opportunities throughout the Southern United States, he traveled across the region creating custom cabinets for homeowners, churches, and businesses.

Mr. Johnson never met a stranger, he loved to engage with everyone he met and often made them laugh. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he became a member at an early age. His hobbies included gardening, collecting cars, and trucks. Herbert loved motorcycles too, he enjoyed taking rides to see his friends and family.
Herbert cherished time spent with his beloved long-time companion of 18 years and fiancé Billie Bryant, his love for her will forever be present.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his son, Kentrell Herbet Johnson; siblings: Zula Forest, Abraham Johnson, Eunice Livingston, and Lodies Fogle.

He leaves many precious memories: his fiancé, Billie Bryant of Orangeburg, SC; two sons, Decorde (Nakeda) Johnson of Raleigh, NC, Bernard Forest of Orangeburg, SC; grandchildren, Nakena, Decordia, N’Ky Levon of Raleigh, NC; four brothers Emmanuel Clay (Yvonne) Johnson and Roosevelt (Mary) Johnson all of Orangeburg, SC, Clarence (Mary) Simmons, Herbert Simmons both of Harleyville, SC ; six sisters, Rosa McKay of Santee, SC, Annie (Johnnie) McCollum of Holly Hill, SC, Odell Gevena Johnson of St. George, SC, Jannie May, Ethel Wilson, Barbara (Abraham)
Washington all of Harleyville, SC; one sister-in law Alvilda Tucker-Simmons of Harleyville, SC, with many blissful memories to cherish with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
