Herbert LaRue Bevington was born December 17, 1924 and passed away on December 11, 2018 at the
VA CLC Hospice Center in Boise, Idaho.
His family moved to Boise in 1929 and lived in several parts of Boise. He attended Lowell School, Garfield School, and White Holcomb Schools. Boise Jr.
When the war in Europe ended he had earned enough points to go home. He chose to stay in Italy for another 6 months (goody, goody). He arrived in Boise by train on Thanksgiving Day.
He lived in Fairbanks, Alaska for a time and helped form the College Community Fire Department. He soon became Fire Chief and also Deputy State Fire Marshall. (Both were Volunteer)
He returned to Idaho in November 1960. He volunteered as a Deputy State Police Officer over a six year period. He was commander of the American Legion John Reagan Post #2 for three years. As a volunteer he headed up the Pearl Harbor patrol rally in 1969 to show the Vietnam Troops we were behind them when peace marchers were condemning them.

LaRue married Beverly Budge in April 1946. They had 5 children but were divorced in early 1963. Later that year, LaRue married Bernice Broaders at Blackfoot, Idaho.
He is predeceased by his wife Bernice Bevington ( March 29,2012) His son James Bevington(September 3, 1989) and his daughter Jean Stevens (July 11,2012).
He is survived by his daughters Judy (Dave) Coggburn, and Janet Bevington, his son Jerald Bevington. His sisters Cloris Knox, Mariel (Lloyd) Fritchle, and Helen Bevington. He also leaves behind 8 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild.
The family would like to thank all the Doctors and Staff at the Boise VA Hospital who took Wonderful and Loving care of LaRue while he was there.
