Herbert J. “Herb” Long, 90, of Moberly, died Saturday, October 1, 2016,  at Parkside Manor in Columbia. Herb was born September 8, 1926, in Eureka, KS, to Herby Joe and Ala (Thomson) Long.

Herb served his country honorably in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.  He was co-owner and operator of Ace Electric for over 40 years; retiring in 1993. Herb was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church.

He married Ruby Pearl Eggemeyer on February 25, 1950 in Palestine, IL. She preceded him in death on May 4, 2013. Also preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Alvin and Floyd.

Survivors include a son Mike Long, a daughter Kim Eagan both of Moberly; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bob Long and wife Ginny of Moberly, Richard Long of Arizona, David Long and wife Kay of Royal Center, IN; other relatives and friends.

Herb enjoyed Ford Mustangs, fishing, and was a handyman; building every home he had lived in.  He will be missed by all.
