Herbert Gewirtz, Ph.D, born March 30, 1933 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28th surrounded by and with the love of his family.
Born and raised in Manhattan, Herb earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from City College of New York, a Master’s degree from Georgetown University and a Ph.D from the University of Umass, Amherst. An accomplished and well respected child psychologist, dedicated to the well being of children and families, he relocated to Middletown and worked with adolescents at the Connecticut Valley Hospital, he then went on to hold the position as Clinical Director at the Child Guidance Clinic for over thirty years and was also the psychological consultant at Mt. St. Johns school for more than 25 years. Herb also worked in private practice for over fifteen years up until two years ago.
