Herbert Francis Dols, 93, passed away Monday, March 21, 2022, at Ramsey Home in Des Moines. Herbert was born March 17, 1929, in Glencoe, MN, to Herbert and Emma (Flannery) Dols. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Herbert married Anna Russell on June 14, 1952.
Herbert worked for Clark Oil and Refining for many years moving his family all over the midwest. In 1965 he bought Central Iowa Oil Company in Ames, Iowa and later Ames Ice and Des Moines Ice Companies and ran them for many years.
Herbert is survived by his wife, Anna, his children, Joseph (Anne) Dols of Des Moines, Michael Dols of Des Moines, Anthony Dols of Cedarburg, WI, Mary (Frank) DeMarco of Clive and Susanne (Thomas) Oswald of Cleghorn, IA; daughter-in-law Jean Dols of Houston, TX, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and his sister-in-law Betty Dols. He was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest son Stephen, his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Mary Dols.
