Herbert Earl “Jay” Larew, 91 of Newburg passed away Wednesday December 2, 2009 at Monongalia General Hospital with family by his side. He was born in Newburg on Jan. 17, 1918, son of Oscar Earl and Beulah Florence Wolfe Larew.
He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, walking and woodworking. He worked some in the coalmines but spent over 50 years working at the timber and sawmill business.
He is survived by two sons, Herbert Eugene Larew and wife Nancy, Klet J. Larew and wife Sheila; one daughter, Roberta Ellen Taylor all of Newburg; five grandchildren, Douglas and Mark Taylor, Cynthia, Letetia, and Christopher Larew; five great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Larew of Vienna Ohio, Daniel Larew of Newburg; two sisters, Maxine Pyles of Windham, Ohio, Madeline O’Reilly of Fredericksburg Virginia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Wilma Virginia Bell Larew in August 2000, one brother, Ronald Larew; and one sister, Mary Ball.
