Herbert Stockley, 84, of Ottawa, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Herbert was born April 20, 1926 in Harding, to William Herbert and Ethel Philena (Blue) Stockley. He was a graduate of Earlville High School. He married Mary Adeline Frankenhauser on June 29, 1946. She survives.

He later married Mary Lee Lancaster Zilm on December 28, 1965. She died on May 22, 2006. Herbert was a lay leader and teacher for the United Methodist Churches of Illinois, district representative of the Lion Clubs of the northern district, past master of the Masonic Temple of Freedom Lodge, past patron of the Order of Eastern Star, Board of Directors of YMCA, YMCA baseball coach, Board of Directors of Friendship Village and million dollar insurance agent for Country Companies, who he was with for 42 years.

While residing at Pleasant View he was on the Resident Board, prayer leader and pastors helper. He is survived by eight children, Tamara (Raymond) Scott of Homewood, Herbert D. Stockley Jr. of Bloomington, Minnesota, Raymond E. Stockley of Irving, TX P.J. Wolfe of Ottawa, Carol Sundeen, of Iowa City, Patty Bonne, of Minnesota, and Diane (Dan) Fandler of Minnesota and John (Dawn) Zilm of Naplate; 4 grandchildren, John Sundeen, Kimberly Anne and Christopher Dale Scott and William F. Wolfe; 3 great grandchildren, Tiara Wright, Santana and Santiago McCoy. He was preceded in death by his parents; his second wife Mary Lee Stockley; 4 brothers, Wilbur, Charles, Russell and Robert Stockley; 5 sisters, Gladys, Dorothy, Irene, Lois and Ruth.
