Herbert Bell, age 83 died Friday March 14, 2014 at his residence in Edgewater Park. Born in Jersey City, he was a longtime resident before moving to Edgewater Park. He was a retired private investigator, owning his own agency, Black Hawk Investigations, in Jersey City.
Mr. Bell had the distinction of being the first black licensed private investigator in the state of New Jersey. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Burlington. In his spare time Herbert enjoyed fishing, camping and being outdoors. Husband of the late Letsey Redd-Bell, he was also predeceased by his mother Sadie Bell and children Lesley Thomas and Ronald K. Bell. He is survived by his children; Saundra Bell Robinson, H. Gregory Bell, Phyllis Parker, Donna Cintron, Ferne Woodley, Joseph Bell and David Bell. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
