Henry Lee Miers, 76, of Virginia, IL died Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Heritage Health in Jacksonville, IL.
He was born March 5, 1937 in Cass County, IL, the son of John R. and Verna M. Clement Miers. He married Alice Jean Coy on September 10, 1960 in Virginia, IL and she preceded him in death on March 27, 1981.
He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Tillery (husband, Don) of Franklin and Pam Husman (husband, Mark) of Winona, MN; four grandchildren, Colin Tillery, Kacey Tillery, Travis Husman and Anna Husman; two sisters, Mary Fox (husband, Merle) of Jacksonville and Janie McGinnis (husband, Ralph) of Beardstown; several nieces and nephews; and an aunt, Frances Beavers of Jacksonville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard E. Miers and George R. “Rusty” Miers, and two half brothers, Ray D. Miers and John LeRoy Miers.
Mr. Miers was a graduate of Virginia High School and served with the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed as a salesman for Mills Auto Parts of Jacksonville for many years. He later retired from the Jacksonville Developmental Center in 1997. During his retirement, Henry enjoyed helping out part-time and visiting with friends at Dave Sinclair Auto Parts in Virginia. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors.
