Henry L. Matthews, 88, of Plainville, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2011 peacefully with his family by his bedside. He was the adored husband and best friend of Emma (Walters) Matthews they spent 63 wonderful years together. He was born on December 6, 1922 in New Britain and was a son to Fred and Nellie (White) Matthews. He was a life long resident of Plainville. He attended Plainville High School before serving in the U.S. Army as an engineer. Henry retired from the former Tuttle & Bailey Plant in New Britain were he was a foreman in the paint department. After his retirement Henry enjoyed his free time helping his nephew Ken deliver utility sheds and doing woodworking projects. He also loved to take his beloved dogs walking around Plainville and to Norton’s Park. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife.
He cherished every moment he spent with his family, friends and pets. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He had a big heart and a wonderful sense of humor.
