Henry J. Vosswinkel, 84, of Ridgefield, husband of Margaret “Peggy” (Donnellan) Vosswinkel, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 16, 2021.
Affectionately known as “Hank”, Mr. Vosswinkel was the son of Henry and Therese (Becker) Vosswinkel. Born in the Bronx, NY, on November 13, 1936, Hank was raised in the Bronx and attended St. Francis of Rome Elementary School, Iona Preparatory School, and received his Bachelor’s degree from Iona College of New Rochelle.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
A resident of Ridgefield since 1976 coming from Rockland County, NY, he was a member of the Marquette Council Knights of Columbus, the Right to Life Organization, and St. Mary Parish. Mr. Vosswinkel was also a member of the Iona Alumni Association, a board member of The Leo House of New York, and an avid fan of Iona Gaels Basketball and Notre Dame Football. During his younger years, Hank was an avid skier in the mountains of Vermont and enjoyed sailing on Long Island Sound with his family. Once retired, he traded in his skis for the warmth and sunshine of Cape Coral, Florida during the winter months.
In addition to his wife Peggy of fifty-three years, Mr. Vosswinkel is survived by two daughters, Deirdre “DeeDee” Ferguson and her husband Scott of Centennial, CO, and Catherine “Katy” Donovan and her husband Michael of Hingham, MA as well as his beloved grandchildren, Avery, William, Declan, and John. In addition to his parents, Mr. Vosswinkel was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Vosswinkel
