Henry Isaac Neff, of Lafayette, passed away, Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at The Springs in Lafayette.
Henry was born September 4, 1942, in Hampton, IL, to the late Harold C. and Daisy C. (Rogers) Neff. Henry was a high school graduate, and following graduation began working at Schaeffer Pen Company in Fort Madison, IA. He worked at Schaeffer Pen Company, until starting an apprenticeship at Caterpillar in 1967. He retired in 2002, after 38 years, from his career as a Manufacturing Engineer Manager. After retiring, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Henry married Sherolyn Rathbun on May 12, 1962, in Kahoka, MO. The couple has four children. They lived in Chillicothe, IL from 1968 until moving to Lafayette in 1980.
He is survived by his wife, Sherolyn; along with his four children, Kelley (Dave) Shindley of Chillicothe, IL, Bradley Neff, Jeffrey Neff, Candace (Charles) Shumard, all of Lafayette; his four grandchildren, David (Jessica) Shindley II, Christopher (Alexis) Shindley; Caitlin (Trevor) Nelson; Cayla (Jacob) Lape; 10 great-grandchildren, David III, Audrey, Mia and Olivia Shindley, Carter, Chloe, and Colt Shindley; Ryleigh and Charlotte Nelson, and Kennedy Lape. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Chet, Elbert (Donna), Roger (Joann) Neff; 5 sisters, Elizabeth Scott, Dora Vassaka, Lois (Jerry) Moore, Beverly (Jim) Davis, and Catherine (Michael) Ballard.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Arthur Neff; and 3 sisters, Carolyn Mapes, Margaret Freitag and Flora Neff.
Henry was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather always putting his family first. He was strong, kind, loving, and supportive. His knowledge and guidance were the foundation of his family. He will be greatly missed.
