Obituary of Henry George Wells
“Hank” Henry George Wells passed away on Tuesday morning 9/26/17, at the age of 86 at The Durand Senior Care Center in Durand, Michigan. He was born on February 16, 1931 to parents Oliver Warren Wells and Essie Myrtle (Brooks) Wells. He is survived by his wife Sheila Mae (Bolen) Wells, along with his sons Mark, Kent, and Jay. He was preceded in death by his daughter Leesa, who passed away in January of 2014. He was very fortunate to have a large loving family that included 1 daughter, 3 sons, 7 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grand Children, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Hank was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. Before graduating from Flint Central High School he took a part time job with Buick, working on the Hood Line. He worked there until his enlistment. In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Air Force to serve in the Korean War conflict. He served in the USAF at various bases, and was then shipped out to Korea. He worked in the Motor Pool as a Mechanic. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant, and was honorably discharged on July 4, 1955. Later, Hank took a position as Salesman for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company where he worked for many years. In 1980 he formed his own Multi Policy Agency, and later retired after partnering with The Hallmark Agency in Grand Blanc. Hank’s interests were many, and included Sailing, Fishing, Furniture Making, Gardening, Model Cars, and Flying Balsa Wood Airplanes which he built. Summers were spent at Herring Lake, and later Big Platte Lake.
