Mr. Henry G. Greifzu, age 97, of Orange, beloved husband of the late Margaret H. Greifzu, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2009 in Yale New Haven Hospital. Born on December 1, 1911, in New Haven, he was the son of the late Henry and Annie Conniff Greifzu.
Henry was a graduate of Hill House H.S. in New Haven and received his B.A. in Business Administration from the University of New Haven. He was a Connecticut State Police motorcycle officer from 1935 to1946. Henry was a C.P.A. for the Seward-Munday company from 1947 to 1954. He was chairman of the Orange Board of Police Commissioners from 1959 to 1992 and a member of the Knights of Columbus, New Haven. Henry was the General Manager and C.F.O. of Vadney Fuel Oil in Orange and for many years volunteered helping senior citizens file their tax returns.
Survivors include a son John M. Greifzu and his wife Sherry of Brandon, VT; two grandsons, John M. Greifzu Jr. and his wife Christina of Darien and James P. Greifzu of Stamford; his sister Helen Thompson of East Haven; four nieces, Anne Thompson and her husband Bill of West Haven, Ellen Thompson of North Haven, Carol Holm of East Haven and Cathy MacGlashan of St. Petersburg, FL; three nephews, Philip and Edward Quinlan and Ronald Greifzu. Henry was predeceased by a brother Roland Greifzu
