Henry F. Chavez “Hank” was born in Los Angeles, California on November 5, 1930, to Jose and Francisca (Lujan) Chavez.

Upon graduation from Cathedral Catholic Boys High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving with distinction during the Korean War. In November of 1953, he married Beverly Jean Cooksey, and together they had five children. After proudly serving his country for 20 years, he retired in Westminster, Colorado, and began his second career working for the Colorado Department of Revenue. In 1980, he and Beverly amicably divorced. On February 7, 1982, Hank married Peg Barry and became stepfather to her sons, John and Mark.

He died peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. We know he will be on the sidelines cheering his Rams at the Super Bowl.

He is survived by his wife, Peg; his sister, Sister Jeanmarie Chavez; his children, Carmen (Steve) McDermott, Julie (Leo) Navarro, Barbara Ozaeta, Robert (Ana) Chavez, and Karen (Gordon) Gentzler; stepson, John (Mary) Barry; step-daughter-in-law, Brandy Barry; as well as 19 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and stepson, Mark Barry.
