The Lord has welcomed our beloved Henry Donell Humphrey to a land of new birth His transition was made on Sunday, May 1, 2016.
Henry was born on January 28, 1956 to the late Ivory Sr. and Lorene Adkins Humphrey in Decatur, AL. He confessed Jesus as Lord at an early age and was baptized by St. Peter M.B. Church. He attended Flint Elementary and Austin High School. Following high school, Henry served his country as a proud member of the United States Army, where he received the National Defense Service Medal for Marksmanship on the M16. He was a member of Company C 249th Engineering Battalion completing a tour of duty in Europe and was honorably discharged in December 1976.
Upon returning to the States, Henry resided in Atlanta, Georgia. He eventually relocated back to Decatur and was employed for several years with Neal Holland’s Auto Shop. He was very meticulous and took pride in his work.
Henry’s quiet and easy going demeanor, endeared him to many, for he had several long standing friendships. Always wanting others to be happy, he made it known years ago that he wanted bright colors to be worn to his homegoing. While his family and friends will miss him, we know that we will see him again and we are so grateful to God that he allowed Henry to be with us for 60 years.
He leaves to celebrate his life: his children, Christopher McDaniel, Quanza Kurtz (Otis), Talethia Jones; grandchildren, Christopher Jr., Torian , Jada, Jaiya, Henry, Nicholas, Perryl , Jeremiah C., Ethan, all of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Floyd (Olivia) of Chattanooga, TN; Lorenzo of Los Angeles, CA, and Ivory of Decatur, AL; sisters, Geraldine of Decatur, AL, and Mary (Tommie) Stegall of Atlanta, GA; a dear aunt, Ruth Barker, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and a myriad of friends.
