Henry Blum Owings, 93, of Westminster, died Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the Golden Living Center. Born Feb. 29, 1924 in Westminster, he was the son of the late George Washington Owings, Sr. and Clara Blum Owings. His first wife Jane Haines Owings died Jan. 7, 1990. His second wife, Ruth Isles Owings, also pre-deceased him..
Before retiring he was a lifelong farmer. He served in the Army during WWII. He was a member of the Church of the Open Door, Royal Blue Sunday School Class, Super Sixties, Christian Farmers, VFW Molleville Farm Post No. 467, DAV, American Legion Carroll Post No. 31, Door to Virtue Masonic Lodge No. 46 AF & AM and Western Maryland Shrine Club.
He is survived by 3 children; Vanessa J. Frock and husband David, Daniel T. Owings and wife Karen and David M. Owings and wife Lucy, all of Westminster, 3 step-children; Peggi Seaman and husband Chuck of Tennessee, Linda Isles of Westminster, Steve Isles and wife Debbie of Westminster, a brother Russell Owings of Towson and sister Dorothy Myers of Westminster. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 15 step-great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother George W. Owings, Jr. and sisters Virginia Zumbrun and Alvina Mirfin.
