Henry Benjamin “Ben” Lines, 82, of New Preston, CT. and formerly a

longtime resident of Greenwich, CT., died on Tuesday April 5th. He was the beloved

husband of Roberta June Kolesar-Lines and the late Louise Anderson Lines.

Son of the late Henry and Ida Lines, he was born Sept. 15, 1928 in Bessemer, Alabama.

A proud Navy Veteran, he honorably served his country in WWII and Korea

as a Gunner’s Mate aboard the USS Dayton and the USS Casa Grande. He owned and operated “Starlite TV” for many years and was an avid sports fan. He followed the NY Mets and his

beloved University of Alabama Crimson Tide. In his younger years he coached

youth baseball in Greenwich and led his “Starlite TV” team to the 1977 Midget

League crown.

He helped to start the USS Casa Grande Reunion Assoc. in 2001 and served as its

President until 2009 when he was named President Emeritus.

He loved to work in his rose garden, feeding the birds and taking his dogs, Rosie and Sailor for walks.

He is survived by his children, Linda Coyle (Dennis), Patricia Apgar, Cheryl

Lines, Bonnie Lienhardt (Ronald),Henry Benjamin Lines III and eight grandchildren.

He is also survived by his two brothers, Everett Merritt, Jr (Friedel) and George

Merritt.   He also leaves his step-daughters, Mary Viscount (Paul), Pat Nishti (Tom Fulton),

Jeannette Parker (Gary), Linda Donovan (Vincent) and all their children.
