Henrietta B. Grohowski, 99, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Miller’s Merry Manor in New Carlisle, IN.
She was born on January 7, 1922 to the late Stanley and Cecelia (Zelasko) Golichowski in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident. Along with her parents; she was also preceded in death by one sister, Adeline Reedy; two brothers, Stanley and Richard Golichowski; two sisters-in-law, Patricia and Margie Golichowski; and one brother-in-law, Lawrence “Larry” Reedy.
Henrietta was retired from the Koszegi Factory in South Bend, IN, where she worked as a Power Sewer for eight years. Prior to that, she worked as a Power Sewer at Bike Webb in South Bend, IN.
On July 12, 1947, as Henrietta B. Golichowski, she married Joseph J. “Joe” Grohowski at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. Joe passed away on March 20, 2018.
Henrietta is survived by her daughter, Judith Ann (Tony Fuentes) Grohowski of South Bend, IN; her son, Allen J. Grohowski of South Bend, IN; and several nieces & nephews.
Henrietta was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish in New Carlisle, IN, where she belonged to the church’s Altar and Rosary Sodality and Senior Club. She loved bowling and going gambling at the casinos with her best friend Annie Bladecki. Henrietta loved being around family and friends, but especially her best friend Annie Bladecki. They were so close that at times everyone thought that they were sisters. Henrietta also enjoyed to cook old fashioned polish meals such as pig hocks and sauerkraut and homemade beet soup.
