ADAMS, Mrs. Henrietta “Dottie”, Kalamazoo, MI. Monday afternoon August 24, 2009 Dottie found peace with her Lord Jesus. Dottie was born September 5, 1923 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a daughter of Barney and Nellie Ossewaarde Longjohn. She had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was a member of the First Reformed Church of Portage.
She was also a member of Bronson Hospital Bridge Marathon, Airwaves and Couples Bowling, Milham Baguettes, Portage PTA and Mothers Club. During Dottie’s 8 ½ years of chemotherapy, she was an inspiration and comfort to other cancer patients.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Edwin “Ed” Adams on February 12, 2007; 5 brothers, William, John, Edward, Gabriel, and Henry Longjohn; and a sister, Florence Molhoek. She is survived by 3 daughters, Gayle Fritz Kirkpatrick of Metamora, MI, Jan Doug Kitzmiller of North Port, FL, and Marcia Adams of Portage; 5 grandchildren, Karen and Steven Kirkpatrick, David and Michelle Callner, and Alison Zdan; a brother, Peter Elaine Longjohn of Renfrew, PA; a sister, Eva Harley Pierce of Sturgis, MI; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
