Helmuth Probstmeyer, age 84, of Bridgeport, passed away Monday, February 2, 2015 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. Born in Gross-Flothe, Germany the son of the late Helmut and Hermine Probstmeyer, he completed four years of college in Engineering, immigrated to Canada in 1951, then came to the United States and later became a U.S. retired from GL & V-Dorr-Oliver in Milford as Manager of Product Engineering. Mr. Probstmeyer holds several patents to his name, enjoyed model ship building and walks at Sherwood Island and Greenwich Point. He previously had been a very active member of the German-American Club (Turner Liedertafel) in Stamford. Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Davenport and her husband Richard of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Sarah Bliss, Aaron Davenport, Callie McPaul and Whitney Davenport all of Texas; his former wife and best friend, Evelyn Probstmeyer of Old Greenwich and her children, Scott Chard and Michel Chard; two brothers, Hartwig Probstmeyer and Heiko Probstmeyer of Germany. He was predeceased by his sister, Hannelore Rakow of Germany.
