Heliodor Joseph Piper died May 16, 2015, at the ripe young age of 92, of natural causes. He was married and is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Piper, of 39 years. The couple was by each other’s side in his final hours at West Hills Hospital in West Hills, CA.

Heliodor (Elio), was born July 5, 1923 to Jozefa and Ottomar Piper in Kowal, Poland to a family of five. His first marriage to Carmella Piper brought two boys, Paul and George, into the world. He then married Barbara Piper, and became an honorable stepfather to three more children, Carla, Sheila, and Severin. He has seven grandchildren, and at last count another seven great grandchildren.

Elio had a very rare and blessed life, from a burst appendix at 16, to adventures in several armies during WWII, to being a POW living on bread, to finding his way through Europe, and eventually ending up in the United States proudly becoming a citizen June 27, 1996.

Elio was a true Renaissance man, with talents in building, painting, and singing to name a few of his skills. He proudly worked for more than 40 years at Universal Studios and was loved by everyone, retiring in 1988.
