Helene Bussey Deas, 76 Portugal Helene Bussey Deas, 76, of Prado Da Penina, Algarve, Portugal, formerly of Troy, died Wednesday, July 11th at her residence in Portugal. Born in Albany, she was daughter of the late Helene Bord and James Nichols Bussey and was the widow of Harry Lee Deas Jr. She had resided in Troy for most of her life, until moving to Portugal in 1974. She was a graduate of Emma Willard School and attended Russell Sage College. Helene was a homemaker and an active volunteer at Samaritan Hospital for many years. She was a member of The Country Club of Troy, The Ilium Literary Club and The Western Algarve Luncheon Club. Survivors include her sister, Jane Bussey of Argyle; her son, Harry Lee (Brud) Deas III and his wife Jean of Portsmouth, New Hampshire; two daughters, Leigh Deas Keeley of Ithaca and Diane Deas O’Connor of Troy and three grandchildren, Scott Deas of Greensboro, North Carolina; Christopher Keeley of Lansing, Michigan and Amanda O’Connor of Troy. At Helene’s request, a private ceremony was held in Algarve, Portugal. Contributions in her memory may be made to The Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society Oakland Ave., Menands, New York 12204.
