Helen (Gorski) Bojko went to be with our Lord on March 12, 2015. She was 91 ½ years old. Born in Lvov, Poland, to Peter and Zofia Gorski. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years Emil. Left alone after escaping from a train heading for Siberia, she saw most of her family perish during WWII. Despite all odds being against her and the horrors of war around her, through courage and determination she persevered. She reunited with her mother after 22 years, neither knew the other had survived. Helen was always generous and helpful, not only to her family, but anyone in need that crossed her path. Among her many accomplishments, she was an excellent seamstress, an exceptional cook (that anyone that has ever eaten at her house will attest to), and her Easter babka was unrivaled. She also enjoyed movies, storytelling, traveling and above all else, bargain hunting. Her pride and joy were her five grandchildren, Michael Bojko of London, England, Laura Bojko of Wethersfield, Valerie and her husband Michael Campion of Santa Monica, CA, Vanessa and her husband Bradley Van Horne of Seattle, WA, and Paul Makarewicz of Durango, CO. She was blessed by two great grandchildren, Morgane Campion and Henry Van Horne. Also surviving are her son Zenon and daughter-in-law Janet Bojko of Wethersfield, and daughter Nadine and her husband Paul Makarewicz of Manchester. A wonderful mother, loving, caring and kind, she will be missed but never forgotten by her family nor those whose life she affected. Rest in peace dear Mom, not a day will go by that we won’t think of you.
