The late Helen Way Scott was called to Glory on October 5, 2022.

Helen Way Scott was born on December 14, 1925, in the McIntosh Community in Liberty County, Georgia.  She was the 4th of five children born to the union of the late Henry Way and Susan Singleton Way.  Helen lost her mother when she was only 2 years old and was raised by her daddy and her Aunt Diana Singleton Golden.

At an early age, Helen accepted Christ at Hutchinson Station A.M.E.

As the story goes, this tall, red and handsome young man approached her while she was feeding the family hogs on a sunny day.  Sparks flew and this man, Norman Scott, from “The Scott Hill” of Ludowici in Liberty County told her to wait for him because he would be right back.  Upon his return was the start of a romance that evolved into holy matrimony until God called Norman to Glory on May 21, 2003.  Helen was his “Baby Doll” as he affectionately called her.  She was a devoted wife to Norman until the end—he passed away in his Baby Doll’s arms.

Helen was adored and cherished by members of her and Norman’s side of the family, alike.  Her longevity while still she was with us gave her the title of Matriarch for her parent’s families (the Way Family and the Singleton Family) as well as her husband’s families (the Scott Family and the Slater/Fabian Families).
