Helen V. Uhlman a longtime resident of Hartsdale, New York, passed away on December 26, 2017 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, New York at the age of 95 years old.

She was born October 2, 1922 in Glen Allen, Virginia to the late Joseph and Rose Smolik Vasko. Helen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She married the love of her life, the late Walter Uhlman on March 2, 1957 in Glen Allen, VA.

She received a certificate in business from a local college in Virginia. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for various companies. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling and playing cards. She was a wise, kind hearted woman with a great sense of humor. More than anything she loved spending time with her family and close friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of White Plains, NY for 40 years. The family is so thankful that she lived to see her 95th birthday in October.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband Walter Uhlman, and siblings Joseph and Jerry Vasko, Bessie Novak and Alice “Hun” Hughes. She is survived by her two children; a son, John Uhlman of Beaufort, SC; a daughter, Wendy Uhlman of Hartsdale, NY; three granddaughters, Diana and Jennifer Uhlman of Mission Viejo, CA; and Jacqueline Leak of Hartsdale, NY; two nephews, Joseph and Robert Vasko, and three nieces, Bonnie Hopson, Patricia Butterworth and Lisa McDonald. We will all miss her tremendously and will cherish all the memories we have with her.
