Helen Viola Dubbe, 92, of Elkhart, died at 7:40 p.m. Monday (Sept. 15, 2008) in Riverside Village.

She was born Feb. 16, 1916, in Elmwood, Wis., to John and Bessie (Weix) Brunner. On May 27, 1942, she married Frederick A. Dubbe in Luverne, Wis. He died Sept. 28, 2000.

Mrs. Dubbe is survived by two daughters, Geri Khair and Fredi (Daniel) Crosbie, both of Elkhart; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Elaine Hammer, and one brother, John Brunner.

Mrs. Dubbe was a homemaker and a former high school teacher in Owen and Durand, Wis., where she taught Latin and English. She was a 1939 graduate of River Falls (Wis.) State Teachers College, where she met her husband.

Mrs. Dubbe was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Washburn, Wis., and Augustana Lutheran Church in Elkhart. She enjoyed playing the organ and tending her flower garden.
