Helen Hensley Schmid(1933-2017)

Helen Schmid fell asleep in the Lord Jesus at St. Francis Hospital on August 31,2017. Helen Louise Hensley Schmid, 84, was born June 1,1933, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Cleo and Mary (Feltz) Hensley.  Helen was reborn a child of God through Holy Baptism at St.

Prior to starting a family, Helen worked at Eli Lilly & Co. for 7 years as an executive secretary.  Helen was called to be a stay at home mom and homemaker.  Teaching life skills to her children, as well as others,was important to her. She was active in Girl Scouts as well as serving as Perry township 4-H leader for several years.  She also served as president of the 4-H advisory board.Helen was a member of the Indiana State Assembly Women’s Club, served as president of the Indianapolis branch of the State Assembly Women’s club, and member of the Greater Indianapolis Republican Women’s an avid sports fan, Helen especially enjoyed cheering for grandchildren, Purdue basketball, Ohio State football, and the Indianapolis Colts.Preceeded in death by her parents; Cleo and Mary Hensley, siblings; Norma Rice, Mildred Sedam, Robert Hensley, Mary Jane Adams, and her husband of 48 years George Edward McKee Schmid.  

Helen is survived by sister-in-law and friend; Nancy Schmid, three daughters; Susan (Stuart) Clark, Betsy (Tim) Eisenhut, and Karen (Kurt) Kuehr as well as nine grandchildren; Ryan (Kristina) Clark, Stephanie (Sean) Welsh, Angela (Paul)Thompson, Natalie (Alex) Dyon, Nick (Brittany) Strange, Madeline and Landon Eisenhut, Kristopher and Kimberly Kuehr, and two great grandchildren; Athena Welsh and Addison Rev.
