Helen Potts Jeter, 94, of Cheraw, South Carolina, died peacefully March 16, 2020 at Wesley Woods in Newnan, Georgia. Helen was born February 7, 1926 in Newnan, Georgia to Zack Lawrence and Jennie Lee Goggans Potts. She graduated from Newnan High School and Georgia State College for Women with a BA degree in English. She taught high school English literature, grammar, and the art of writing a gracious thank you note. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional society of women educators. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and in 2008 was awarded Honorary Life Member of the Presbyterian Women’s organization. Helen was a beloved wife, mother, and Mimi. She lived a rich and full life and will be missed by her family and friends. Helen Jeter is preceded in death by her husband, James Phillips Jeter; sister, Hazel Potts Webb; and brothers, Richard Lawrence Potts and James E. “Pete” Potts. She is survived by her children: Thomas Randolph Jeter (Gail) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Jennifer Jeter Bozard (Dan) of Marietta, GA, and James Jeffrey Jeter (Leslie) of Moreland, GA; grandchildren: Erin Bozard Gossett, William Thomas Jeter (Ashley), Daniel Phillips Bozard (Leigh), Molly Jeter Netzler (Peter), Benjamin Bostick Jeter (Emilie), Laura Katherine Jeter, and Barron Phillips Jeter; and great grandchildren: Ford, Ansley, Grayson, Peyton, William, Anderson, Ellie, Eva, Lawton, Henry, and Mary Neyle.
