Helen P. Wood, age 74, formerly of Brookfield Road, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2012.
She was born April 5, 1937, in Utica, a daughter of Philip W. and Anna Harvey Plete, and educated in Holland Patent schools. Helen was united in marriage to Ernest W. Wood, on December 12, 1963, in Rome; he died November 5, 2003. She worked for many years as a service coordinator for Verizon.
Helen was a former member and President of Lee Legion Post 1794, Ladies Auxiliary, was active with Boy Scouts Troop 5, and an avid bowler. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed life and all the people she met along the way.
Helen is survived by a daughter and son in law, Tracy and Roger Dilcher of Farmington; three sons and two daughters in law, Harold J Wood of Albany, Christopher M. and Theresa Wood of Rome, and Daniel W. and Mary Wood of Liverpool; a sister in law, Gloria Plete of Remsen; grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan, Emily, Katherine and Genevieve; and many niece and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Bill Plete.
