Helen was born April 30, 1930, the fifth child of Daniel and Lena (Van Sickle) Cook. She was baptized at First Baptist Church in Madison, Illinois in 1939. She continued her faith until her death on February 25, 2016. Helen attended Louis Baer Elementary School in Madison and in 1941 continued her schooling in Granite City when her family moved there. Helen was a mother and a homemaker. She earned her degree at Florissant Valley College in St. Louis, Missouri. Helen worked in Alton, Illinois, and at Gateway Center in Granite City until her retirement in 1995. She was a compassionate, dedicated Mental Health Specialist, devoted to her clients. Helen taught Sunday School Class and sang in the choir at Grace Baptist Church in Granite City for a number of years. She loved animals and was a supporter of the Humane Society. She was a history buff enjoying researching family genealogy. She enjoyed traveling with friends and her sisters. Helen was fiercely independent she loved living in her own apartment at Cambridge House. Her greatest joy was being around her four granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. She was looking forward to the birth of another great-grandson in May.

She was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Lena Cook, brothers Leslie, Lawrence, and Daniel, a sister Bess Bretch, nephew Mark Prokopich, brother-in-law Alex Prokopich, sister-in-law Faye Snider.

She is survived by daughter Ruth Ann (Mark) Naglich-Galucia, son Dennis L. Myracle, granddaughters Denise (Jeff) Hyer, Amy (Keith) Beer, Sarah (Jon) Anderson, Ann (Victor) Ojeda, great-grandchildren Allison and Megan Hyer, Victor, Michael and Benjamin Ojeda, sister Carolyn Prokopich -Cole, brother-in-law Don (Joan) Myracle, nieces, and nephews.
