Helen Louise Murphy, a resident of Bath, died unexpectedly at home on May 11, 2024. She was 66 years old.Helen was born on June 29, 1957 in Saginaw, Michigan, the eighth of nine children born to Patrick and Mildred (Rork) Murphy. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw and worked for many years as a senior document control specialist for Consumers Energy. It was at work that Helen met Dean Moeggenberg, and they were partners and best friends for over thirty-five years until Dean’s passing in 2023.Helen remained a steadfast believer in finding the happiness in each day, her favorite saying being, \”got to find the happy in the day.\” She was a gifted crafter and talented seamstress, whose quilting and sewing skills brought warmth and comfort to many. She crafted special event quilts, signature quilts for weddings, and donated her work to hospitals and charities. She made quilts for veterans through the Quilts of Honor program and began quilting groups at her church, Bath Methodist Church. She cared deeply for her partner, Dean, her Bath community, her church, her family and friends and she adored her dog, Spot. Helen was kind, compassionate and generous — always a support to others, no matter what she was going through.She was preceded in death by her beloved Dean Moeggenberg; her sister, Mary Ellen Schreader and her dog, Dudley. She is survived by her faithful canine companion, Spot; her siblings, Bert (Mitzi) Murphy, Pat (Sandy) Murphy, Cathy Murphy, Mike (Debbie) Murphy, John (Connie) Murphy, Ann Murphy, Margaret (Jim) Murphy; as well as many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
