Helen Marlee Sodt, age 76 of Stockton, IL, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016 at U.W. Hospital in Madison, WI. She was born December 7, 1939 in Knoxville, IL; the daughter of the late Leslie and Helen (Schwartz) Steck. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1958. She then attended Western Illinois University and graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a minor in Library Science.
On May 30, 1964, Marlee married Ted Sodt in Havana, IL. She taught History at Havana High School for two years. She was also the librarian at Hanover High School and for the Stockton Township Library. Marlee was also a homemaker and raised two children. She loved to read and watch vintage movies. She also enjoyed taking day trips, antiquing, going to flea markets, and the outdoors, especially bicycling and hiking. Marlee loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Ted Sodt of Stockton; daughter, Karen (Dennis) Bartch of Rockton, IL; son, Jeffrey (Jill) Sodt of Grand Blanc, MI; grandchildren, Alex & Meghan Bartch; and sister, Carolyn (Clarence) Clark of Galesburg, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Janet Martin.
