Mrs. Helen (Reed) Markut, 87, of Ottawa died Friday morning, November 13, 2008, at her home. Mrs. Markut was born on January 5, 1921, in Streator, to William and Sabina (Guyon) Reed.
She married Michael Markut on September 30, 1939, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Ottawa. He died on February 14, 2005. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan (Joseph) Vittone of Oneida; three sons, Michael (Lynda) Markut of Woodstock, William (Juanita) Markut of Marseilles, and Kenneth (Debra) Markut, of Ottawa; seven grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joan Faustner of Streator, Anita Muscato of Streator, and Patricia Kovalik of Mesa, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, William Reed, and two sisters, Mary Poruba and Evelyn Harcharik.
