Helen Marie Weaver, 97 of Independence, WV, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Rosewood Health Care Center with her loving family by her side. She was born September 10, 1922 in Preston County, daughter of the late James “Jim” and Nora Stevens Fortney.  She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Bernard Weaver, January   3, 1974.

Helen (Marie) as everyone knew her worked at the shirt factory ,Grafton for many years until her twin boys were born in 1961. She was a stay at home mom until her youngest sons attended school. She than worked as a cook for Preston County School until the passing of her husband in 1974. She was a member and trustee of the Irondale United Methodist Church. She really enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, and in her younger years she loved music and square dancing.

Helen is survived by four sons, James “Jim’ and wife Shirley, Newburg,  Paul Weaver and wife Chris, New Martinsville,  Garry Weaver and fiancé’ Angie, Grafton, Larry Weaver and wife Laura Bridgeport, eight grandchildren, Ronald, Michael, Connie, Rick, Tracy, Timmy, Bryan, and Kelley, and several great grandchildren,  and great great grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Robert Delancy, Ellenboro, WV; several  nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Bolyard and Emileen Delancy
