Helen Marie Rogers Pope, 75, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in Emmett, Idaho. Helen was born January 7, 1942 in Boise, Idaho, the daughter of Orlo and Verna Rogers. She attended schools in Emmett and graduated from Emmett High School in 1960. She was involved in 4H and FHA in high school and was the President of FHA her senior year. Helen was a talented seamstress. She modeled the clothing she made at fair competitions and won first place for her efforts. She married Dal L. Pope in Emmett, Idaho on May 28, 1960. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Dal and Helen lived in California while Dal completed his schooling and began his career in education. They eventually settled in Granite Bay, in Northern California where they raised their six children- Sylvia, David, Brian, Cindy, Nancy and Brandon. She was able to use her skills as a seamstress to sew anything her children needed. She was a great homemaker and loved to cook and bake. She loved to decorate cakes for family and friends. She enjoyed music and her family loved when she played her accordion for them. Helen loved children and was most comfortable when surrounded by her grandchildren. She had an almost magical ability to connect with children and her children often benefitted as she could quickly calm a fussing grandchild.
In 2014 she moved from California with her husband back to Emmett, Idaho.
She is survived by her six children, Sylvia (Tim) Walker, David (Rhonda) Pope, Brian (Nancy) Pope, Cindy (Mike) Pavik, Nancy (Tom) Palmer and Brandon (Malorie) Pope. A sister, Bonnie McGuire and a brother, Gary Rogers. 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dal Pope.
The family would like to express their gratitude to The Cottages of Emmett and Encompass Home Health and Hospice for the excellent care provided to her.
