Gainey, Helen Marie ‘Dutchie’ (NEE: Mellberg), 91, of Wayne, formerly of Ridgewood, passed away on Friday January 15, 2016. Born and raised in Ithaca, NY, she was the beloved wife for 63 years to the late Thomas Patrick Gainey, who predeceased her in 2012. Loving mother of Jeffrey Leo Gainey and wife Sue of South Bend, IN, Christine Ann Gainey of Ridgewood, Rosemary Gainey of Wayne, Barry James Gainey and wife Mary Ellen of Ridgewood. Cherished grandmother of Elizabeth Colombo, Molly, Patrick and Dylan Gainey and Thomas and Jack Gainey and great-grandmother of Brianna Josephine and Aubrey Rose Gainey. Devoted sister of the late Rita Russell. A Registered Nurse, she worked at Cornell University for many years. Helen was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church in Ridgewood. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Helen was a kind, generous, quick-witted, devoted person, and she will live in our hearts forever.
